Y es que donde esté un buen mercadillo...

Hoy después de clase me fui por ahí a darle duro al shopping. Y si no lo veo no lo creo... Hay un local bastante grande aqui que está montado todo en plan rastro. Voy bastante por ahí a ver cuales son las últimas novedades en el Top-Mercadillo. Y cual es mi sorpresa que me da por mirar vestidos y me encuentro con uno de Adolfo Dominguez. Hombre ya se que vete tu a saber de qué temporada, pero eso al fin y al cabo importa? Supongo que al susodicho Adolfo Dominguez, también conocido como U le impotará, pero aqui a la menda pues como que no mucho. Pero muy bonito, en plan veraniego de la muerte tipo como algodón o lino. Me lo pruebo y me queda pequenyo. Pero que no cunda el panico! Tienen todas las tallas que quieras! Vale, me pruebo mi talla y me queda bien, quizás demasiado largo y tendría que pedir a alguien que me suba el bajillo fastidiando un poco el estampado de la parte de abajo... Hmm... pero cuanto cuesta? Y me dicen que cuatro euros (en rupias claro). Bueno pues venga, pa la bolsa. Y es que claro, subir el bajo solo me va a costar entre un euro y dos! Mereció la pena el paseo al mercadillo, no?

BOLLYWOOD

If you are in India sooner or later you will notice something: they love movies!!!

India has its own film industry, well known around the world as Bollywood. Although Indian movies have a very modest budget comparing to Hollywood, the amount of films released every year is literally thousands (all the Hindi movies and the regional movies from each state).

But what is it that makes these movies so special?! Well, first of all they are all musicals. There is not a single movie without at least a couple of choreographies between some scenes. All actors are good dancers but they don't sing in the movies. The people singing are professional singers and they have their own fans, too! Another difference is that in all these movies you can find all the ingredients you’d probably find in all soup operas, only that while in the soup opera you have 1000 episodes in the movie you have 2 and a half hours, very often three hours. The movies’ plots are just like we are used to in our countries: good dialogues, bad dialogues, some scenes you’ll remember forever and some you keep trying to forget because you want to be able to sleep again. But something is fascinating: the colors. Everything is India is colorful but this choreographies are just amazing. Even when you don’t understand a single word you keep watching all the colors and all these people on the screen dancing for minutes and minutes. Usually the soundtracks are the music hits we’ll listen during the promotion… Some of the biggest actors from Bollywood are known around the world. All countries in Asia watch Hindu movies and all Indians around the world try to keep updated with the last hits. The result: some of the Bollywood stars are better known around the world like for example Tom Cruise! That means you’ll be in some place in Iran, Nepal or Philippines and everybody will recognize the bollywood stars, while they’d probably have to think a little bit if you show them a picture of some of the Hollywood stars!

Here are some examples of Bollywood choreographies: This video is from Dhoom2, an Indian action movie. The girl is Aishwarya Rai, best known here as Ash. She is like a god here. She is considered the most beautiful woman in the world and she’s a symbol of India.

And here is Ash once more performing a classic Bollywood scene. It's so unique! You just can't believe your eyes when you start watching!

And as well as in Hollywood, we have our hero: Abhishek Bachchan, his dad is also considered as a god in India, but like Enrique Iglesias, this boy was not wasting his time! And of course like in Hollywood, too we have some gossip: Ash and Abhi just got engaged! Wow! They have a lot of movies together, too. Here is a video where you can notice another difference in Bollywood movies: they never kiss!

But you can also find other productions, that for us doesn’t look so charming like the big titles but they are really popular… For different but obvious reasons, again you can’t believe your eyes!

Ya hacia tiempo que me apetecía contaros de Bollywood. Esta es la industria cinematografica de India, con unos presupuestos mucho menores que Hollywood, pero con miles de peliculas al anyo literalmente entre las de idioma oficial, Hindi, y las de producción a nivel regional.

Las peliculas, como en todos los sitios, pueden ser buenas, malas o agonizantes. Suelen tener un entramado con todos los ingredientes tipicos de los culebrones, lo que pasa es que mientras en los culebrones tienes 1000 episodios para verlo todo, en las pelis de aquí tienes "solo" dos horas y media o tres... Pero la diferencia principal son las coreografias. Basicamente todas las peliculas son musicales. Las bandas sonoras son los exitos de la radio mientras estan de promoción. Es una fiesta de movimientos, bailes y colores. Uno se queda como atontado mirando aunque no entiendas ni jota de lo que está pasando!!!! Todos los actores suelen ser buenos bailarines pero no cantan; las voces en playback son de otros cantantes que tambien tienen sus fans! Una curiosidad: las peliculas de Bollywood son vistas en toda Asia y por todos los indios viviendo en cualquier sitio del mundo. El resultado es que vas a cualquier sitio de ya pueda ser Iran, Nepal o Filipinas y reconocerán a las grandes estrellas de Bollywood. A esas mismas personas les ensenyas una foto de Tom Cruise y se lo tienen que pensar un poco en dónde vieron esa cara ántes...

Aqui podeis ver una coreografia moderna de la pelicula Dhoom2, una pelicula de acción que ha tenido mucho exito. La chica protagonista es Aishwarya Rai (conocida en el mundo mundial por Ash), todo un simbolo nacional y considerada como la mujer mas bella del mundo, por encima de las bellezas hollywoodienses.

Aqui otra coreografia mas clásica, más de lo que nos viene a la mente sobre Bollywood, interpretada de nuevo por Ash.

Como en Hollywood, tambien tenemos a nuestro heroe: Abhishek Bachchan y como no, tambien tenemos los cotilleos: Ash y Abhi se acaban de comprometer! oooooohhhhh!!!! rios de tinta! Han hecho muchas peliculas juntos, aqui podeis ver otro video. Nótese que en Bollywood no se besa en la boca...

Pero tambien podemos encontrar otro tipo de producciones que puede se alejen un poco de la imagen de Bollywood, pero que son muy populares... Por distintas pero obvias razones tampoco podreis quitar los ojos de la pantalla...

Y despues de esta corta presentación sobre Bollywood, posiblemente vais a poder entender un poco mejor el humor en este video.

Wine Party/Sarao

Yesterday we had a great evening. The Leela Palace in Bangalore arranges some “Wine Dinners”. The concept is to taste some of the best wines from different wineries and have dinner with some other guests and the wine producer. He usually makes an introduction of the wineries and explains about the grapes and the production. We’ve been to the Bollinger, Vega Sicilia and yesterday evening Cakebread Cellar dinner. We are really enjoying taking part of this. It’s a great opportunity to dress up, taste excellent wines and meet different people. I always thought wine is nothing special until I tried some of these wines… Wow!!!! Specially “Unico” from Vega Sicilia… What an experience! That should not be the wine we mix with lemonade (Tinto de Verano) or with coke (Calimocho)….

And it’s so much fun to talk with all these people… the chiefs from the Import office are usually there, some foreign people like us in business trips in Bangalore, some people we don’t really know what their business are, some people enjoying the Dolce Vita, some Indians telling their experiences abroad… A bunch of fun people! In the next Wine Dinner I’ll bring my camera and I’ll publish some good pictures.

Ayer lo pasamos genial. Estuvimos en una cena especial para catar vinos que el Hotel Leela Palace suele organizar. El concepto de estas cenas es presentar y catar algunos de los mejores vinos de distintas bodegas y cenar junto a otros invitados y los propios productores de las bodegas. Los productores suelen hacer una presentacion de las bodega y de las uvas. Hemos estado ya en la presentacion de Bollinger, Vega Sicilia y ayer en Cakebread Cellar. Disfrutamos muchisimos y es una oportunidad perfecta para arreglarse y conocer a gente distinta. Y yo que siempre pensé que el vino no es nada del otro mundo hasta que me dieron a probar de estos… ufff… sobre todo el “Unico” de Vega Sicilia…. Madre madre madre!!! Precisamente ese no es el vino que se mezcla con casera o con coca-cola! Pecado de muerte!

Lo pasamos bien hablando con toda esta gente, los jefes de la oficina de importacio suelen estar ahí, guiris como nosotros en viaje de negocios, guiris y no guiris que no sabemos exactamente a que se dedican, otros que se dedican a la Dolce Vita, Indios que cuentan sus experiencias en otros paises y productores que te cuentan detalles de las bodegas. Pues un grupo relajado con ganas de disfrutar! La proxima vez me llevo la camara y hago fotos del sarao, voy a hacer un reportaje que riete tu del Hola! :-D

CHILDREN IN INDIA

Life is still going fast here in Bangalore as usual. We both have been quite busy with our computers. Mikkel and a couple of other colleagues are starting to set up the Sharepoint system in the company. The information flow from Copenhagen to India should be improved with this system.

Meanwhile, I had a little project of my own. Our club in Bangalore, the OWC (Overseas Women’s Club) organized a Charity Ball last Saturday. I made the boards decorating the Ball room to present the charities to the guests. I had very few days and very few ideas, and the rest of the volunteers where, well, hmmm, busy? So I haven’t got that much help to get material and ideas. The club is helping 26 charities and I’ve made 26 Boards. Maybe they are not the most professional looking boards, but at least people could read about the Charities. Here are two boards:

While I was making the boards, I thought I could tell you a little bit about the children in the streets of India. Some of you ask some good questions and with this Blogs one can explain and tell lots of things to everybody at the same time.

There are hundreds and hundreds of Charities in India, and of course here in this state where Bangalore belongs to: Karnataka. Like everything in a third world country, some of these people are working really hard to support their projects while some other are just looking a way to make good money to their own families. We always have to be very careful to follow up where the money is going to. Most of the charities focused on street children. Everywhere you look here you will see children, some of them wealthy and some of them half naked. Some of them fat and some of them just skin and bones. It really breaks your heart to see these poor children with such a big smile! There are both street children by their own and children involved in organized begging. The street children are usually trying to collect stuff from the garbage (food, paper and other things to sale…) and beg in a “relax” way while these poor organized beggars are monitored by adults and they have to run from car to car and from tourist to tourist to collect as much as possible. I now a woman that explained to me, that she and her friend tried once to take one of these beggar children with them in the car to bring them to a charity where they can attend school. The poor boy was scared to death and a couple of adults suddenly came out of a corner to take the child with them… People working/collaborating full time in charities really have to be strong to keep up the hard work in this never ending task.

NIÑOS EN LA INDIA

La vida sigue pasando igual de rapido aqui en Bangalore. Ultimamente parece que todo ha estado girando alrededor de los ordenadores. Mikkel junto con otros colegas estan trabajando en lanzar el Sharepoint en la empresa para que el trabajo sea mas fluido.

Mientras tanto yo he estado bastante ocupada con un pequenyo proyecto. Nuestro club OWC (Overseas Women’s Club/Club de mujeres extranjeras -> Página en espanyol no disponible) ha organizado una fiesta el sabado pasado para recaudar fondos para las organizaciones que ayuda. Son en total 26 organizaciones no gubernamentales y he tenido que hacer 26 posters. Ha sido en muy poco tiempo y el resto de voluntaries han estado ocupados… Bueno, que como no soy muy creativa me he visto en un pequenyo apuro pero al final todo ha salido adelante y la gente ha conocido a las organizaciones. --Arriba, incluido en el texto en inglés, hay dos de los veintiseis posters--.

Hay cientos y cientos de organizaciones humanitarias en India y, por supuesto, también aqui en el estado donde pertenece Bangalore: Karnataka. Hay gente trabajando muy duro noche y día para sacar proyecto adelante y como pasa en muchos otros sitios, hay otros que solo se preocupan de su propio beneficio. Hay que estar siempre muy alerta para saber a dónde van dirigidos los fondos. La mayoría de las organizaciones estan enfocadas en los ninyos. Por todas partes te encuentras ninyos, ya sean bien vestidos y con buen peso o medio desnudos y en los huesos. Se te parte el corazón en ver a estos ninyos en tal pobreza pero mirándote con una sonrisa tan magnética! Hay ninyos que viven en las calles y hay mendicidad organizada. La diferencia es que los crios que viven en las calles estan siempre entre la basura buscando cosas para poder comer o vender y piden de una manera mas relajada y los pobres crios organizados estan vigilados y tienen que correr de coche en coche o de turista en turista para recaudar lo mas possible. Durisimo. Una mujer me comentó que un día con una amiga intento llevarse a un ninyo en el coche y llevarlo a una organización donde pudiera ir al colegio y el crio se llevó un susto de muerte. Un par de adultos aparecieron amenazando y se lo llevaron a otro sitio. Un chapó para todos los que se dedican a trabajar duro para las organizaciones porque es desmoranlizante ver una historia que no se sabe si va a poder acabar…
